SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2003
July 23, 2003

We (my wife, a friend of our family, and yours truly) started out from Phoenix at around 3:30 in the morning on Thursday the 17th. After a nice brisk six hour drive, we arrived in La Jolla, a town just north of San Diego with some great shops and beautiful beaches.

Our first stop was the Birch Aquarium, where among other things we discovered that male seahorses are the ones that carry the baby seahorses around and give birth to them; the female seahorses just make the eggs. Now, I'm all for equality in a relationship and sharing the workload and all, but I'd just like to take this opportunity to say I'm glad to not be a seahorse.

After the aquarium, it was time for lunch. We found a nice little mexican cafe called Su Casa, and settled in for a tasty meal. As I sat there munching on a chicken quesadilla, I happened to glance across the street and spotted a light post with a tie neatly worn at around human neck level. I knew then I had found my first photograph of the vacation.
