SCOTLAND VACATION 2004
May 18 - May 30, 2004

JOURNAL ENTRY 15
entry begun on May 29th, 2004
at 06:45 Edinburgh Time

On Friday I got up at 7:30, a half an hour before the alarm went off. Eventually the others got up and after the normal morning routines we all sat down to the table for breakfast. The morning meal's main course was Eggs Ginger (scrambled eggs plus the secret Eggs Ginger ingredient), with sides of raisin toast, yogurt, and melon. Delicious.

Ginger went up to finish packing a few things while I kept cranking away at the journal. We had a fairly leisurely morning, just trying to take a bit more of Kelso and Mick's house in before it was just a memory to us

There were still a few errands to take care of in town, so we drove into Kelso's town square one last time (this trip). The nice woman at the tourist board had promised Ginger a recipe for caramel shortbread, so we went in to get that and chat with her for a bit. We found out that two Arizona couples had been through the day before asking for directions, which is quite a "small world" event to happen in a town of population 4,500 in and a town eight time zones away.

We went to the bakery for lunch, which consisted of a chicken tikka sandwich and a Diet Coke for me, two sausage rolls and some black currant juice for Mick, and a Coke with a chicken sandwich for Ginger. After buying it all, we took it out to a bench in the town square to eat it in the fresh cool air. It was a peaceful, beautiful way to end our days in Kelso.

Once back to Mick's we packed the car up, then relaxed for a bit before we had to head up to Edinburgh. At 3:45 that afternoon we passed the sign saying Welcome to Kelso, heading the opposite way.
