SCOTLAND VACATION 2004
May 18 - May 30, 2004

JOURNAL ENTRY 3
entry begun on May 20th, 2004
at 12:30 London Time

At about two this morning, Ginger was wide awake. I was still zonked from the pills (and fatigue), so she went downstairs for a while to look through our tour books. I slept until she came back at 5:15 and woke me up. I grabbed another shower to try to get awake, and off we went to Piccadilly Circus to take some pictures and, perhaps, find some coffee.

We don't get any coffee at Piccadilly, but we did manage some good shots. Then we wandered through a Tasco grocery store to do some comparison shopping to prices in Phoenix. I got to show Ginger an example of the crazy kinds of crisps (potato chips) available in the U.K. After that, it was a tube ride back to Earl's Court to partake in the "breakfast" part of our "bed and breakfast".

Breakfast was pretty great. Amongst the mix were fruits of many sorts (kiwi, apple, pineapple, and orange amongst it), plain yogurt, muesli, Weetabix, milk, juice, coffee, tea, bologna, cheese, bread, and toast with jelly and butter. Best of all, we get to have it all again tomorrow morning!

A lot of the food items here, by the way, are about the same amount as they are in dollars in America. On other words, a 20 oz bottle of Coke from a vending machine in Arizona is typically $1.00, and here they are £1.00.

After breakfast we relaxed in the room for a while. I shaved and wrote in the journal a bit, and Ginger repacked us a bit to try to get reorganized after having to shuffle things all around at Sky Harbor to get all of our luggage to weigh in properly.

Our next move was to take the tube back to Heathrow Terminal 4 to get some things from a gift shop there (mainly Christmas gift ideas we will not be able to hold out on and will end up giving to people immediately upon our return to the states). Ginger had a particularly good time at that. While at the gift shop, I happened upon a brochure for a London Bus Tour map, which we decided we'd likely do.

So we jumped the Piccadilly Line back towards Piccadilly Circus to see about getting onto one of the tours. And that's where I am now, at the Hounslow East tube station waiting for the train to press on towards Piccadilly. And thus, being caught up on the journal for the first time since the trip's inception, I shall now officially stop writing for a bit.
