| SCOTLAND VACATION 2004 May 18 - May 30, 2004 JOURNAL ENTRY 1 entry begun on May 18th, 2004 at 19:50 Arizona Time ( or 03:50 London Time ) For future reference, there is currently an eight hour different between Arizona and the UK. We're snugly in our seats, 41K and 41J, on a nice big 747-400 bound for London's Heathrow Airport. The beverage cart is slowly making its way down the aisle. The airport proved only a bit bothersome. Our carry-on baggage was too heavy, so we had to shuffle things around a bit into our check-in bag, but it turned out okay. Security frazzled me more than it should have, due to an unexpected belt buckle incident (it has gotten through previous detectors without notice). I should mention the in-flight entertainment. Amongst the channels and features in the monitors built into the chairs in front of us is a real-time map showing our current location, travel plan, altitude, speed, the time at our destination, the time it will take us to reach our destination, and what size socks the pilot has worn that day.
